Johannesburg, South Africa — BNC Technology, a leader in bespoke home cinema design and
installation, has unveiled its flagship Platinum Home Cinema — a R10 million, fully immersive
private cinema experience that sets a new benchmark for residential entertainment in South Africa.
Years in the making, the Platinum Home Cinema represents the pinnacle of BNC Technology’s
design philosophy: a seamless integration of engineering precision, architectural sensitivity and
refined luxury. Conceived as a turnkey solution for high-net-worth clients, it brings together
reference-grade audiovisual performance, intelligent system design and meticulously considered
interiors into a single, cohesive environment.
“This cinema is not just a room. It is an experience that captures everything BNC stands for —
performance, precision and quiet luxury,” says Nick Caripis, Managing Director of BNC Technology.
At its core, the Platinum Home Cinema is built around a reference-grade 7.1.4 audio system,
anchored by a flagship 17-speaker Meridian Audio configuration. Meridian’s DSP520.2 in-wall
digital active loudspeakers form the front stage, engineered with quad-amplified Class-D
architecture and advanced digital signal processing to deliver high-resolution sound with
exceptional clarity, scale and control. These are complemented by DSP320.2 in-wall and in-ceiling
loudspeakers, designed for wide dispersion and seamless surround integration, creating a
consistent and fully immersive sound field throughout the space.
Low-frequency performance is delivered through four 15-inch subwoofers, adding depth and
physical presence while maintaining precision and balance across all listening positions.
The room itself has been acoustically engineered using advanced treatment and isolation materials,
resulting in a highly controlled listening environment that enhances dialogue clarity, spatial accuracy
and dynamic range. Designed in alignment with global best practices set by CEDIA (Custom
Electronic Design & Installation Association), the cinema achieves Level 3 reference performance
for dynamics — placing it among the highest-performing residential cinema environments globally.
Visually, the experience is defined by a Barco Njord Cinemascope projector, a high-performance
laser phosphor system delivering 5,120 x 2,160 resolution, HDR capability and up to 9,000 lumens
of brightness. Paired with a 4-metre CinemaScope screen, the system delivers exceptional scale,
contrast and colour accuracy within the DCI/P3 colour space, with advanced image processing
ensuring fluid motion and minimal artefacts across all content.
Despite its technical complexity, the Platinum Home Cinema is defined by restraint. All technology
has been discreetly integrated into the architecture, with in-wall and in-ceiling systems, concealed
infrastructure and a carefully curated material palette that aligns with contemporary luxury interiors.
The result is an environment where technology recedes, allowing the experience itself to take
centre stage.
Beyond performance, the interior design reinterprets cinematic luxury through a contemporary
architectural lens. Drawing on the nostalgic cues of traditional theatres, the space incorporates rich
materiality and tonal depth — including stone, fabric and metallic accents — to create a layered
and immersive environment. The use of red stone subtly references the iconic curtain moment of
classic cinema, while brass detailing introduces warmth and refinement, resulting in a space that is
as visually compelling as it is technically advanced.
The Platinum Home Cinema reflects a broader shift in luxury living, where homes are increasingly
designed as fully integrated, experience-led environments. As technology becomes more
sophisticated, its role is no longer to dominate a space, but to disappear within it — enabling
intuitive, immersive experiences that feel effortless to the user.
“Clients today are looking for more than high-performance systems,” adds Caripis. “They want
spaces that are considered, immersive and seamlessly integrated into their lives. The real luxury lies
in how everything works together.”
In this context, the Platinum Home Cinema is not simply a high-end installation, but a fully realised,
turnkey solution — where acoustic science, engineering precision and design thinking converge.
Installed as a dedicated cinema room or integrated into a broader smart home environment, each
solution is tailored to the client’s architecture, lifestyle and preferences.
With a track record of award-winning projects and recognition from global industry bodies including
CEDIA, BNC Technology continues to set the standard for bespoke residential cinema design in
South Africa. The Platinum Home Cinema stands as both a showcase of what is possible and a
blueprint for the future of luxury home entertainment.
